Lovely aqua chiffon draped hat, c. 1950’s/1960’s, B. Altman & Co.
I’m not sure I can find the words to do justice to this awesome hat. C. 1950’s/early 1960’s this ‘draped peach basket’ hat characteristic with a higher slightly tapered crown, turned down brim and draped in fabric, is something to behold. The color combination of aqua and seafoam green is astonishing, and the petal-like folds of the chiffon around the rim offer a feminine yet playful quality to the overall look. I hesitate to even let this one go, something about it. The label inside reads: “The Hat Rack, B. Altman & Co.”.
Condition: Excellent. There are 3 tiny (smaller than a pin head) rust colored dots on the top of the crown, which would likely not be seen when worn.
Measurements: Will fit an average 22” head.
