Stunning Bright Orange Chiffon Evening Gown with Brocade Bodice - c. 1960's

A truly spectacular dress. The fitted brocade bodice of delicate white and bright orange silk floss, highlighted with gold lame thread is only the beginning. The floral motif on the brocade looks light pink, however closer inspection reveals it is actually white floss stitched over an orange base that gives off the pink cast - how lovely is this! The bodice, fitted and very flattering, is sleeveless, with an empire waist that accentuates the bustline. The straps are wide set, made to sit just on the shoulders at the edge forming a wide scoop neckline that bears the neck and chest . The long, flowing chiffon skirt falls straight from the waistline, a bold tangerine color to offset the delicate bodice. Notice the petite bow to the side at the waist and the tiny pleats of chiffon that fall to one side in soft gathers down the full length of the skirt, ending like a mini 'train' just below the hemline. A favorite and a must-have. The combination of fabrics works so well on this dress and the silhouette is as flattering as they come. Don't think too much on this one - go for it. The dress bears a union label and a secondary label showing a style number and indicating size 9, which is not applicable by today's sizing methods.

Condition: Excellent. There is a small tear at the left armhole in front which has been professionally repaired. I have included a photo of the repair. The photo, taken from the side directly at the rip, actually looks worse than on the actual dress from a front view. When the dress is on, the repair is bearly detectable unless under close inspection.
Measurements: Bust 34" - 35", Waist 29" at the Empire waistline (30" at the natural waistline), Hips 38", Length 52".
