Copper Silk La Belle Epoque Tailored Dress – c. 1960’s-70’s – Neusteters

So much more than a shirtwaist is this lovely tailored dress from the once famous Neusteters Department Store. Made from a beautiful print silk depicting the era, La Belle Epoque, this dress is stunning and magnificently tailored. The shirt-style bodice is short sleeved with notch collar and hidden buttons down the front, with no zipper or other button closures. The dress is fully lined with a built-in under slip. The outer skirt is fashioned with large box pleats all the way around. At the front of the dress, the skirt actually folds over itself to reveal additional fabric (like a panel) underneath. This dress was very cleverly made with every attention to detail. As the dress was pieced together, planning even went into the careful placement of each piece of fabric so as not to disturb the characters or create breaks in the whimsical scenes that make up the design and pattern on the fabric itself. And, of course, there is a matching belt. Again, a very well made dress that can be worn with pride to any daytime occasion.

Condition: The condition is very good with very slight soiling under one arm, bearly detectable and a spot just above the waistline on the left back of the dress, which I think, after speaking with my dry cleaner, is fabric dye, not soil.
Measurements: Bust 36”, Waist 27”, Hips 37” – 28”, Length 42”.
