Apricot Allure Jr. Flair by Sportlane c. 1950s

This apricot evening dress is rich with color, style and detail. The fabulous neckline which is court, or square in the front, continuing to a lovely open v in the back is only the beginning. The fitted bodice is lovely with length sleeves and fashioned of floral eyelet attached to a nude tightly woven tulle which is then lined with champagne taffeta at the bodice only; the eyelet sleeves, also set over the nude tulle, are not lined with the taffeta for a subtle contrast to the bodice, and creating an illusion of nudity under the eyelet, a most mischievous and daring look. From underneath a bright apricot velvet ribbon and bow at the waist, floats the silk chiffon skirt pleated all the way around with the most delicate and tiny pleats for a soft yet flowing look. The skirt lies over a bright orange taffeta lining. There is a zipper closure in back. So beautifully designed in its rich apricot color, worn at dusk, this dress will be in perfect harmony with the sunset sky. The primary label reads Jr. Flair by Sportlane and a sencond label in the dress suggests that this was custom made with an order number and a style number indicated.
