Two Piece Evening Ensemble with Red Lace Blouse, Rosina, Buenos Aires, c. 1980's

Two pieces, so independent, each can stand on its own with confidence, mix with others easily yet both can come together seamlessly, like a good marriage. This ensemble has holiday written all over it when worn together but separately, anything goes. Let's begin with the lipstick red lace blouse, there I go, describing yet another variation of red in this collection. Styled with ruffles instead of a collar and cuffs, the theme is girly, the lace has an iridescent luster that glistens and the vibrant color gives off boldness. When paired with the skirt, it has holiday written all over it, when paired with a camisole and just about anything below, it makes a statement of fun and fabulous just about anytime of year. Let's not forget about the skirt just yet, a most important piece for that annual holiday event. A purple, green and red dyed chiffon is woven with fine silk floss to create within the fibers a contrast of finish and texture; the gloss and softness of the silk floss against the matte finish of the chiffon, swimming in a sea of vibranct colors, they come together in matrimony. The skirt is fitted at the waistline, not gathered for a flush look under the blouse, with soft-fold inverted pleats for an added fullness and then finished at the bottom with a large ruffle at the hem. Three layers of tulle 7" in depth are attached at the base of a silky black underskirt helping to maintin the fullness and shape of the silhouette. From the designer, Rosina, Buenas Aires. Pair the skirt with white, black or a jewel tone on top for versatility.

Worn to a dinner at the presidential Quinta (residence) with the President of Italy and his wife.
