Outstanding Bright Floral Silk Dress, Miss Brooks, NY, c. 1950s
Bright and bold fuchsia and reddish-pink peonies cover this 1950's silk dress. The bodice is seamed with a 'V' inset that points down at the pleated waist leading to a skirt that is gently full at the front in that fifties-feminine way not always seen in today's fashions. Only in the fabulous 50's can you find this naturally feminine look and the V neckline in the back is just another example of this. We had to list this dress even in its condition as described below, it is just too amazing to pass up. Lined. The label inside reads, 'Miss Brooks, NY'.
Condition: Very Good. The structure is very strong and wearable. There is discoloration under the arms, no odor, that is noticeable on close inspection on the right side, and slightly so on the left. This dress was found in the back of a closet at a home where time ceased in about the 70's......we think it was a favorite dress she just couldn't part with.
Measurements: Bust 38", Waist 28", Hips full, Length 42".
