Cotton Garden Party Dress – Spiegel – c. 1950’s

I simply can’t call this a day dress because it may imply that this dress is ‘everyday’ and I see so much more, a dress that can be worn to a daytime event, or a casual evening out. The rounded neckline scoops in the back for that added feminine and elegant touch, the sleeves are short, almost capped and the fitted bodice tucks beautifully into a cummerbund waistline that gathers with a bow in the front. The skirt is full and flows over interfacing attached at the waist giving it support and a lovely shape. The fabric is a field of watercolor roses, rosebuds and leaves in shades of olive green and steel gray. There is a metal zipper down the back. From Spiegel, one of my favorites because there is so much you can do with this one, dress it up for evening, put a string of pearls on and wear it to work, match it with a pair of ‘strappy’ sandals and a straw hat for the garden party.

Condition: The condition is very good with one pale pink spot at the bottom, which is not noticeable unless scrutinized closely. Hint of soiling inside underarms.
Measurements: Bust 37”, Waist 26” around the middle of the cummerbund, Length 41” shoulder to hem.
