1950's Vintage Prom Dress, Flocked & Beaded, Drop Waist, Swing Skirt, Matching Beaded Bolero
this 1950's Flocked and Beaded with Fitted Drop-Waist Bodice and Full Swing Skirt Vintage Prom/Party Dress is like no other we've seen, and with a matching Bolero, one you'll never find again! The bodice, constructed with two double sets of elongated darts for a snug fit, is embellished at the neckline and straps with rhinestones, sequins and seed pearls, following the design of the flocking in perfect placement, not to much, not too little. The hourglass shape of the dress is punctuated with a beaded/sequined band/trim at the waist that introduces the full swing skirt below. The length, depending on your height, is not to the floor, but more like a 3/4 gown or ballet length.
The Bolero, also flocked and beaded, features a little pop of color with light blue rhinestones on the flocked petals. It has dolman, or batwing, sleeves and is cropped to fit just below the bust so as not to interfere with the drop waist on the dress.
The dress and bolero are unlined. The fabric is like a faille, it has tiny ribbing, I'm not sure the content, it isn't silk, it's more sturdy with a slight stiffness to it. The skirt has a tulle underskirt which is attached about 3/4 of the way down for fullness toward the bottom. The dress zips up the side with a metal zipper.
Condition: Excellent, there is some yellowing on the interfacing and under the arms on the outside of the dress.
